How Long Should Your Session Be?

60 minute session

Best for focused work and getting a clear win in one or two priority areas.

A 60 minute session is perfect when you have a specific issue you want to target, like low back pain, stiff shoulders and neck, hip tightness, headaches or jaw tension, or recovery from a flare up. If you want a quick reset or you need a “mini vacation” without taking your whole afternoon, this is a great choice.

We begin with a quick check in, then your therapist works with a clear goal. We look for what is driving the discomfort, not just where it hurts. That may include addressing trigger points, stubborn tension, nerve irritation patterns, postural strain, and movement compensation.

You should leave feeling clearer in your body, less tight, and more ready for the rest of your day.

90 minute session

Best for full body work, deeper pattern change, and people who want a more comprehensive session.

A 90 minute session gives us time to work through connected areas, not just the loudest spot. This is ideal for active bodies, athletes, preventative minded clients, and anyone who wants more complete support for mobility, recovery, and long term results.

With more time, we can address the areas that feed into the issue, improve tissue glide and circulation, and help restore balance across joints, muscles, and fascia. This is also the session length we recommend when you feel like everything is tight, when stress is living in your body, or when you want the work to hold longer between visits.

You do not need to be an athlete to benefit. If you move, work hard, train, parent, sit at a desk, or carry stress in your body, 90 minutes can help you feel more open, more grounded, and more resilient.

Bodywork

Bodywork is our flagship session, and it is designed to meet you where you are.

This is not a one size routine. We combine clinical/therapeutic massage with assessment and fascia focused techniques to address pain, movement restrictions, and recurring patterns. Many clients choose Bodywork when they want both relief and a clearer plan forward to prevent future issues.

What you can expect in a Bodywork session

We begin by learning what brings you in, what makes it better or worse, and what your goals are. When appropriate, we use simple assessment tools to understand the pattern before we decide how to work.

Depending on your needs, your session may include:

  • Postural analysis

  • Range of motion testing

  • Orthopedic assessment

  • Manual muscle testing

  • Targeted hands-on work and movement based techniques

  • Clear communication around pressure and comfort

Modalities and techniques we commonly use within Bodywork

  • Neuromuscular Release, also called neuromuscular therapy or NMT

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Myofascial release and fascia focused techniques

  • Clinical and therapeutic massage

  • TMJ release (when jaw tension is part of the picture)

  • Work to support nerve irritation patterns when nerve impingement is suspected

  • Post surgical recovery support including gentle work around scar restrictions when appropriate

Best for

  • Chronic pain and recurring tension

  • Stiffness and limited mobility

  • Neck, shoulder, low back, and hip patterns that keep returning

  • Headaches, jaw tension, and TMJ related strain

  • Clients who have tried massage before and did not get lasting results

  • New clients who want guidance on the right path

How it helps

  • Reduces pain and tension

  • Restores mobility and range of motion

  • Improves movement quality and recovery

  • Addresses compensation patterns so symptoms return less often

  • Helps you understand your body and what it responds to

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue at Body Heal is slow, methodical, and typically area specific.

This service focuses on lengthening contracted tissues, improving tissue glide, and addressing deeper holding patterns with care. We work with your nervous system response, not against it, so you can get change without feeling like you got run over.

Best for

  • Deeper tension that feels stuck in the hips, back, shoulders, and legs

  • People who sit a lot and feel compressed and tight

  • Physically demanding jobs and repetitive strain

  • Active adults who want focused work that supports mobility

  • Clients who want depth with precision, not intensity for intensity’s sake

How it helps

  • Releases stubborn tension and deeper restrictions

  • Improves mobility and ease of movement

  • Reduces pain related to chronic tightness and overuse

  • Taps into the nervous systems ability to let go and allow for fluid movement

Techniques we may use

Slow deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular work, and fascia focused methods, guided by what your body is doing that day.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is for active bodies, not only competitive athletes.

This service supports recovery, mobility, and readiness. It is especially helpful during training blocks, event preparation, and post event recovery. Expect a more invigorating style, with movement based techniques and assisted stretching when appropriate.

Best for

  • Runners, lifters, cyclists, field sports, and active lifestyles

  • People ramping up training volume or returning after time off

  • Event recovery and soreness management

  • Mobility work that supports performance and durability

  • Repetitive strain from active jobs

How it helps

  • Supports recovery and reduces soreness

  • Improves range of motion and movement efficiency

  • Helps manage overuse patterns before they become injuries

  • Keeps the body feeling ready and responsive

Techniques we may use

Sports massage techniques, assisted stretching, mobility work, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular techniques, and fascia focused work based on your activity demands.

Structural Integration

Structural Integration is a whole body approach to change over time.

Instead of treating one spot at a time, Structural Integration looks at posture, gait, and how your body organizes around gravity. We focus on the connective tissue system and the patterns that keep pulling you back into the same discomfort. Many clients choose this work when they feel uneven, stuck, or locked into compensation.

This work is best experienced as a guided series. We typically recommend an 11 session program that moves through a clear progression, helping your body unwind long held patterns, integrate new options, and build changes that hold in everyday life.

A somatic component may be part of the process. As the body releases and reorganizes, some clients notice shifts in breath, stress response, or emotion. We keep this grounded and client led. You stay in control, and the work stays practical, supportive, and integrated.

Best for

  • Long standing postural patterns and recurring pain

  • Feeling twisted, uneven, or always compensating

  • Movement restrictions that do not resolve with spot treatment

  • Clients who want a longer arc plan for lasting change

  • People who feel “stuck” in the same patterns even after trying other approaches

How it helps

  • Improves alignment and movement coordination

  • Reduces strain from compensation patterns

  • Supports long term resilience and body awareness

  • Helps changes hold through integration and movement education

  • Supports easier breathing, steadier balance, and more efficient movement over time

Assessment and techniques we may use

  • Gait analysis

  • Postural assessment

  • Orthopedic testing and range of motion testing

  • Fascia focused release

  • Scar tissue and adhesion release when appropriate

  • Joint adhesion release techniques as needed

  • Muscle energy technique and movement based integration

What the 11 session series is like

  • Sessions are progressive and connected, each building on the last

  • The focus shifts through regions of the body while staying oriented to your goals

  • We track changes in posture, movement, and symptoms as we go

  • Many clients notice the biggest changes when they commit to the full arc, not a single visit
